  1. on most airlines, minors are allowed to travel alone.

you will need a parent to bring you to the check in.

its good to have your parents notify the airline that you will be alone too.

  2. Yes, but more times than not you need to have an adult escort you to your terminal, OR parental consent.

  3. Yes it is called unaccompanied minor which is from ages (don't quote me on this) 8-16 or so varying from Airline although some airlines don't allow this you will need to have a parent or adult escort to the airport to vary you can fly alone and if you are changing at a hub you will need to be assigned a companion which can be fun at times :)  I think all you need for this is a school id or something like that withing the USA but not sure about something else. Check out the airline you are going to be on and see thier policies on passengers.

    Hope that helps!

  4. try riding at home

  5. Yes.   They're called Unaccompanied Minors (otherwise known as UM's in the business).

The parent (or whoever) drops you off at the airport and turns you over to a Customer Service Agent who becomes responsible for you. That person personally brings you to your airplane and turns you over to one of the Flight Attendants who than becomes responsible for you.  The FA sits you where he/she can keep on eye on you and gives you your own "in the event of an emergency" speech, shows you where the lavatories are, brings you something to drink inflight, etc etc.

Once you arrive at your destination the onboard FA turns you over to a CSA at that airport who takes you to your awaiting adult.  That adult is than identified with proof of picture ID as the person who is suppose to be the one picking you up as stated in your paperwork.

Age limits, extra costs, and procedures vary by different airlines.

UM's are actually quite common, especially during the holidays.
