Question:

Can a “nail” puncture in a tire sidewall be safely repaired?

This morning, some neighbors and I found our tires vandalized. The sidewalls had been punctured with what seemed to be made with a nail or something similar. The punctures are hardly visible from 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch wide.

Like always, police can’t do anything and Farmers insurance starts talking about deductibles and basically does everything to avoid covering the damage after I’ve been paying almost 100$/month for the last six years. 8o|

I just bought new tires (245/45R17 W speed) two months ago and it’s hard to imagine that I’m going to have to throw them away and spend all that money again on a new set.

Is it still considerably safe to have the punctures patched? If so, where’s the best place to go and what to ask for? I’m looking for opinions before going to a tire shop.

I appreciate all your answers, Thank you!
