I bought a pair of rollerblades that did not have a pair of aggressive skate frames. And i don't want to buy another pair for $200. So can i just by frames? And I also want to know if I will need new wheels.

  1. The might be able to fit. All aggressive skates come with the proper frames. Where yours aggressive skates? They should also have soulplates and possibly anti-rocker wheels. If they were aggressive skates and UFS (universal frame system: any skates from the past few years should be UFS by now) then any recent frame should fit on them. If your skates aren't aggressive, the bottom of the boot may not be flat or the holes that you mount them may not be aligned properly. You could add adapter plates to make them fit or you could make a makeshift groove by removing the inner wheels and dremeling a groove. As for wheels, you may need to get them if they are worn or if they are over 60 mm, because most aggressive frames aren't as tall so it wouldn't fit in properly.

  2. If your skates did not come with agressive frames, the chance is almost zero that you can put agressive frames on the reasonably well.  Without knowing the exact brand and model of skates, it cannot be determined for certain.

Agressive skates use UFS mounting where the top of the frame is flat.

Rec/Fitness/Racing skates use a system where the front mount is lower than the back mount.  You might be able to cobble an adapter plate to change the mounting but it will not be good.  If you have to ask the question, it is probably a higher mechanical skill than you have.

When you need new wheels is a gray area.  High level skaters tend to buy new wheels sooner than others.  They are more critical of the exact shape of the wheels.  For others, it depends if the wear is affecting your skating.
