  1. Yes.

    Most air pollution is caused by the burning of the 3 fossil fuels, coal, natural gas, and petroleum.  Burning biomass fuels instead, such as wood, can reduce air pollution because they do not produce as much carbon dioxide, which is the main cause of the greenhouse affect and is causing global warming.  Furthermore, combustion of fossil fuels produce chemicals such as nitrogen oxide, sulfur dioxide, and more air polluting chemicals.  Therefore air pollution can be reduced by burning wood instead of burning fossil fuels.


  2. No not really just that trees are a renewable source of energy and you would not be adding more than nature by a great deal. Oil and gas are locked underground and would stay that way if we did not take it out. Burning wood is a cheap source of heat but does add to the overall pollution of the planet.
