Can airlines take away your sets at the airport and not return You money?

Im going to fly soon From USA to China the first week of OCT. I hear somewhere that Airlines cancel air flights and not returning money or give people a new sets. Is this ture?

I don't think it's true but it probably depends on the type of fare you purchased. If an airline cancels your flight they are obligated to  rebook you on the next available flight to your destination or  refund your ticket. I work for an airline. Hope this helps.

if they go bankrupt (like Oasis Hong Kong did) and cease operations, then you are out of luck!  Don't know how the law is where you are, but in the US, if you pay for your ticket with a credit card and this happens, you should be able to get your $ back from the credit card company (NOT from the airline)

If they cancel the flight they have to get you there on their next flight, or the next, or...

But different seats is very possible. If there's a change of aircraft, for example, it's going to hppen for sure.
