Even after 9/11, intelligence agencies and the American military are not tasked with airport security.  That is the job of TSA.

Probably because the most innocuous items can be lethal.

My nightmare is that it will get to the point that TSA will only allow people to board the plane in a paper examination gown... I just don't like making those lesser mortal males feel less 'manly'

FYI until after 9-11, it was entirely L-E-G-A-L to get on the plane with a pocket knife or BOX-Cutter. I used to forget all of the time, I carried one all of the time, in school as well when I was working in the grocery stores.

If only the FBI had investigated the leads from the flight school in Arizona...

(edit) On September 11, hijackers Khalid al-Mihdhar, Majed Moqed, Nawaf al-Hazmi and Salem al-Hazmi all set off the metal detector alarm. Despite being checked with a hand-held detector, the screener failed to find the items that caused the alarm.   Shoddy training but also under Pre-9/11 screening rules, Box cutters qualified as "menacing" weapons under Hazardous Materials guidelines but were also considered "trade tools" by some airlines. The dual status of these blades caused much confusion for screeners.

I mean, when you're point is to draw attention to yourself, I guess spouting garbage is easier than making sense....but, it can't be THAT fulfilling......CAN it?

good question, i don't think a boxkife would phase me in the least, especially when there are about 100 people around to help defend me, even if i died....
