Can all yellowjackets sting?

  1. They did where I came from.. Louisiana. They were horrible stingers! And then there is the guinea wasp which I believe is a relative. But Yellow jackets burrow in the ground and if you disturb their nest you better be prepared for medical help. However, I have found that if they have a food source, such as compost, or fruit, etc. they will probably leave you alone. I hear ya Mr. Lizard but my point was if they are already out of the nest they will concentrate on the food as long as you do not disturb. But when disturbed near their nest it can be quite excruciating. EEEOW
