we got an alow vera plant in the store and now its startig to "wilt"(the top half of each leaf is starting to get really soft, and slightly discolored). dad keeps telling me to bring it inside because "its getting too much sunlight" is this possible?

idk exactly how often its watered, but the soil is straight potting soil, in a fairly large black plastic pot (the ones at the store made for plants, with holes in the bottom)

  1. The symptoms you give sounds like they're being over watered.

But yes, you need INDIRECT sunlight...such as outside, but under an eave where it doesn't get full sun.

  2. YES

Aloe plants do not want direct sunlight.  They need to be kept in a sunny area AWAY from direct sunlight.

Watering:  Since they are a succulent plant, they can go without watering until the soil is almost completely dry.  Actually, this method of watering is preferred if you want it to grow in height.

If you keep watering it before the soil drys, the stems will start to lay over, widen and not produce any additional shoots.
