My car has a small scrape on the bottom of the oil pan and ot started leaking, its an 06 Dodge Stratus. I was wondering instead of replacing the oil pan could it be welded since replacing it costs a lot more and its very hard to find the pan?

  1. it can but it is cheaper and safer to replace it.

  2. yes it can be welded, but will probably have to be removed from the car to do a proper job.

  3. Yes it can be repaired, you will need to remove it from the vehicle and make sure it is spotlessly clean for successful welding. Aluminium welding requires a certain amount of skill, take it to a good welding shop and get a price quote first!.

    Good luck.

  4. It can be welded ,but your going to have to take it off to weld the hold up.The reason is that the oil can't be there when you weld , it would get to hot and might not stick right are it could cause a bigger hold in it.
