  1. Possibly because of supply and demand but everyone would have to do it and everyone won't.

On the other hand China and India are actually using more gas than we are and they aren't slowing down consumption any.

  2. Yes, americans can, but it would take a vast percentage of american's to do this effectively. I know how you feel, the South is suffering badly.

  3. Yes, absolutely.  You need to stop buying gas, a total boycott.  Let's start tomorrow and keep doing it until 2025.  It'll work like a charm.

You think I'm kidding?  You gotta get your mind right. This is not going to be a quick fix.  You can forget "boycott day".  It's going to have to be "boycott decade".

  4. How is America going to go on a gas strike? Everyone needs gas to go to work.

  5. Yea right, we can't even agree on a good President, how the **** is that going to work. Get a bike and really show 'em...

  6. I do believe they have tried that were nobody buys gas for 1 day but it never gets very far. My husband is a 15 year veteran of the Oil and gas field and I know what you mean about having enough money just to get by.

If we would all not buy gas for a week the big oil companies would see a difference but one day doesn't phase them.

  7. Don't need gas strike to get fuel prices down.  Just start shutting the phone lines to DC & your state capitol down, demanding that they need to follow up on the promise to create a sound energy policy to meet our energy needs.  Also, respectfully demand that they permit drilling & exploration everywhere & anywhere possible, fast tract permits for energy projects & refineries, & work to repeal laws (or temporarliy suspend them) that allow environmentalists to tie up energy companies in court for yrs & adds to the costs.  Do remind your legislators that many of them are up for reelection in Nov.  If they don't do anything, they will be out of a job come Jan.  Then, follow up on your promise by voting them out at the election.

Yes, oil execs may be raking in the profits, but they are at the mercy of OPEC, since we get much of our oil from overseas.  OPEC & our other suppliers are going to s***w with us as long as we don't take the bull by the horns & tell our government what we sent them to Washington & your state capitol to do.  That is to take care of the majority while respecting the minority.  So what a couple of animals & plants are displaced.  Many environmentalists believe in evolution & it's 'survival of the fittest.'  In the meantime, we just have to conserve as much as we can.

  8. I think it's more of a long-term thing, a srike just won't to it.

I think that gas prices have a lot further to go - in my neck of the woods here in Canada we're paying $4.77/gallon and it still doesn't seem to bad.  It'll get worse.

  9. Think about it, if people quit using so much gas, the demand will no longer outstrip the demand and the natural economical model with stand true and the price will naturally come down.  So how do americans go on strike, they begin to limit their use.  They do the following:

Wear more cloths and heat their houses to a lower temp in the winter.

They carpool, vanpool, take public transportation or ride a bike to work

They use electric scooters and cars for short trips

They stay home and quit flying just because they can

They wear there cloths more then one day, and reduce energy used in washing cloths

They don't get their sheets changed every day in hotels, only once.

They walk to places, ride bikes to places, spend time in nature instead of at energy consuming  events and parks, like NASCAR racing, Disney World, Disney Land, etc.

So, get a start, reuse, recycle, reduce and the gas will take care of itself and you will find life happier and healthier and more meaningful.
