Special education classes all her life. Testing has not suggested any reason she still doesn't read written language. Sylvan says they don't know.

  1. Give it a try.  Make sure she can focus on letters at standard size.  For this see an eye doctor.  And does she want to read?

  2. If there is no reason she doesn't read except she has never been taught - then there is no reason she shouldn't be able to learn. Lots of much older adults learn to read for the first time.

  3. You might try contacting the independent school district near you, also MHMR, Scottish Rite, Child Study Center, Gills Children Services for references.

  4. Write me privately, my e-mail is the same as my Answers handle, @yahoo.com

    Can this person speak?

    How is their vision?

    What's their GAF score?

Do they WANT to read?  (Harry Potter has done wonders for reading).

There are new therapies to increase functionality, but they require the persons cooperation for at least an hour a day - can you secure that?
