  1. Expect to loose at least one pay grade going from AF to Army.

AF to Army - think about it.

  2. yes he will keep his rank, but duty station of choice is a totally different matter.

  3. More than likely, NO.

Usually, they only let you keep your last active duty rank.  Because the promotion systems in each service differ, it's impossible to say yes, he can keep such senior rank.

If i had to bet, he'd probably lost 2-3 paygrades.  They may grandfather some of his leadership training so it's possible he may still be an NCO.  But again, they don't usually let reservists from the army and/or other services keep the same rank.

Don't be fooled by promotion authorities either.  Just because it's a little more difficult to make E7 in the reserves doesn't mean its a gimme on AD.  It never works like that.

I put in E7 Drill Sergeants from the Reserves who lost 4 paygrades when going active duty.  You know how silly an E3 with a DS patch looks?  LOL.

@ dingbat below:  What the h**l is there to think about?  Promotions in the AF--easy.  Army--you work for it.  You think about it.

    GL with this.

  4. Yes.
