    An American can visit North Korea, but not directly from America.  You must enter through either China or Russia, and exit to China.  Therefore, America will not issue a visa letter to you, but Americans must aquire a visa from China in order to visit North Korea.

    Also, there are no telephones or fax machines available, and wireless communication is monitored.

    There is no American Embassy or Consulate in North Korea, and the Swiss Embassy is the acting American embassy.
