Can an American felon on parole traveling to Canada for a day get in trouble?

My husband, our children and myself are going to Niagara Falls in the morning, and are considering traveling over to the Canadian side of the falls. My concern is, my husband is on felony parole and his parole officer would not call him back after he left several messages asking him to call us to see if he could go over the border for the day. Will he get in trouble if we attempt to cross the border? I do not want him to get arrested or something.

  1. it depends on the parole officer. he should get a written statement from his parole officer, stating; this man (your husbands name) has been given permission by( the parole officers name) to go across into Canada for the said period and or duration of one day. just an example. Never go by his word. ALWAYS get things in wrighting.

  2.   If that is one of his parole conditions, yes.  If not, then don't worry.

  3. He'll get in plenty of trouble, unless the conviction is reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally old and ALL terms of parole were clearly specified at sentencing AND that the terms cannot be modified unless the court says so.

All of this is irrelevant because the Canadian government will probably check his background at the border.  If they don't check going west, we'll check going east.  My advice:  Don't waste your time.  Stay in the states.
