Of course,   A person can live in another country for years and years and practice whtever profession he likes and as long as  he does not renounce  his Ameircan citizenship, he are still a citizen.  See site below and read secton on "Loss of citizenship" for ways an American can lose his citizenship.

  3. Yes, of course if you are American citizen does not mean that you loose you citizenship when you visit or stay for an extended period in another country...
