Can an Anglican sing Ave Maria?

Okay, informed responses only, can Anglicans sing Ave Maria in Church?

We can, but usually don't.  In fact, the only time I can remember hearing it during a service was for a wedding.  And I have heard of it being sung during Christmas services.  It is not, however, found in our Hymnal nor Book of Common Prayer.

If Anglicans believe that Mary intercedes in heaven for them, then they can sing it.  If not, they can leave out this part -

ora pro nobis peccatoribus

Nunc et in hora mortis

Anyone in this country can sing anything they want, that's what democracy and religious tolerance is all about.

There is no prohibition against Anglicans singing Ave Maria, my parents (father is a Church of England Vicar) and siblings sang it for my brother's wedding (he and his wife are Roman Catholic).

In practice, most Anglican churches don't use it often, since most Anglican congregations don't feel the same need to revere Mary as highly as Roman Catholics.

IDK, but I can sing the whole Ave Maria and I'm an Evangelican! We had 2 learn it 4 UIL Choir @ school!
