yes... when you apply to schools you might get a bigger chance because you are a officer.. but it dosent mean that you will be put ahead of anyone if they are more qualified

Unless something is changed, Officers cannot be snipers. PFC to SFC when I went through.

Officers can go to sniper school, but as cross training. You won't physically ever be a sniper (as officers can't be snipers) but you will have a better understanding of the strenghts and limitations of the different levels of sniper units which you MAY be able to work with. I went to Jump School b/c I was attached to a FORECON unit, but i'll never be able to utlize my abilities in the ways they can and do. So to answer your question, yes you can go to sniper school, but no, you can't be a sniper.
