Can an F1 visa student study in a public college for over 1 year?

I know that foreign student in public high schools are limited to 12 months of study but what about college and university? Can an F1 visa student study in a public college or university for over 1 yr?

Yes they can. An F-1 student, in theory can study for an unlimited amount of time in the U.S. provided they are accepted to the colleges/universities and they can afford to do so.

It is absolutely possibly for an international student to complete a 4-year bachelors degree at a college or university and then continue their education by going on and complete a Masters degree. It is also possible for an F-1 student to complete a bachelors, masters and a PhD all in the United States.
