My daughter is an U.S. citizen. Can she go to a public school in Toronto ? I stay in U.S. to finish my school for about a year and she stays with my sister's family in Toronto. FYI, I am an U.S. permanent resident and don't have either Canadian citizenship or green card. My sister has Canadian green card. She and her family currently lives in Tornoto.

  1. Contact the Toronto District School Board at:  www.tdsb.on.ca, then under quick links choose International Students.

  2. the canadian learning system is much different than the american, if your daughter goes to school in canada, when she used to go to school in the states for one year, she will be moved back a grade because of the curriculum

also, i wouldn't look at public schools in toronto, maybe in the GTA (greater toronto area), not saying it is unsafe, but schools in the GTA are a higher class

    hope this helps :)

  3. I have a friend who is an international student, ie not canadian or immigrant, but is here on a student visa. She was able to go to public schools in both middle and high school, but had to pay for it (how much i dont know).

Im not sure about being dropped a grade. I have friends who moved to Canada during high school and they were moved back a year or two. But I moved to Canada near the end of elementary and actually was made to move up a grade.
