That's wierd because I only remember all three of the computers I plugged my iPod into didn't recognize the iPod and my iPod won't charge. I turn off my iPod and then I hook it up and plug it in via usb and it just turns on like normal and doesn't have a charging symbol on the screen. Usually it will say it's connected or charging but it won't right now. Someone suggested on the other question I asked that it could be something wrong with the battery.

  1. it shouldn't. the Ipod should just be normal like how it is if it isn't connected to the computer. mine does that all the time and I'm pretty sure my Ipod's ok

  2. No, an abnormal shut down will not harm your iPod battery. Of course, if this abnormal shut down was caused by an electrical surge or something of the sort, that may cause damage to your iPod. But don't worry about the computer being unplugged or freezing and having to be turned off or anything like that, the iPod was designed to be able to last even with the constant risk of computers messing up, which is inevitable.
