hi! i'll be a freshman this year and i played lacrosse last year...but my high school doesn't offer lacrosse. i decided to try out for field hockey instead because the lax coaches i had recommended taking both fh and lax. however, i've NEVER played field hockey, and i'm wondering if i have any chance of making the team. what do you people think? i've played a couple times in PE for school and it was fun, but i have zero experience at all. i'm moderately good at running and from lacrosse i've gotten used to running with a stick, but do you think i could make it? any advice? i heard that usually jv teams don't make cuts, but i don't know about this school [i'm new to the city.]

also, what can i expect at the tryouts? what will we be doing? what will i need?

thank you! gosh i know that's a lot of questions but i'd appreciate any answers!

  1. Yeah you definitely can. I'm going to be a sophomore this year, and last year I tried out for field hockey, and had never played before, along with a bunch of my friends. We had never done anything. No PE with it, no practice with other people, no camps. But, I basically tried out to keep in shape for lacrosse season. I ended up making varsity, and my friends made JV. But, it all depends on the coaches and the competition. But, just because you're new doesn't mean you won't make the team.
