I have heard it depends on each tribe. The child's blood line can not be traced but her adoptive father is Native American and is on the roll.

  1. Federally Recognized Tribes or Nations require a blood relationship exist between generations for purposes of membership in the tribe or nation.

  2. no. The child must be of the parent's blood line. We ran into this problem with my grandson and son-in-law. My grandson is not his child. Tribal office told us he must be blood relative

  3. nope can't be added I believe....at least with the eastern band of cherokee in nc...I am a enrolled member....and it goes by blood quantam....now I have heard of some women that have met an enrolled guy and have talked them into signing their birth certificate (bad speller sorry) but we just went thru an audit and each tribe has different ummm requirements...if you have any questions please fell free to email me...
