Sorry, but it isn't that easy.  Well it is if you don't want to work!

For you to become a landed immigrant (have permanent residency), your Canadian spouse will have to sponsor you.  This involves a whole lot of paperwork, including personal questions as to the status of your relationship.  Then the paperwork gets sent off.  The first stage of the three stage approval, right now is taking 5 to 8 months.  Then onto stage two.  Also, by having spousal sponsorship, be ready for CIC to make unscheduled visits to ensure that your relationship is "genuine and ongoing".
