I know it all depends on wind and blade size, but is it possible or does it just supplment?

  1. I think those "average" windmills are totally ineffiecient...I won't go into all the resaons I don't like them but

I'm looking at these models ....they give all the info I needed.

  2. anything is possible, id contact someone who installs them, im sure they could tell you

  3. In most areas a 10kw turbine will produce what the average home needs.  If you are connected to the grid you will send power out on windy days and use from the power company on calm ones but you will probably average out pretty close at the end of each month.  I have a 20kw turbine and the power company sends me a check for about $100 every month.  If you check your electric bills and compare them to the chart on the web page listed below you should be able to tell approximately what you would need (the average wind speed where I live is about 11 to12mph)

  4. A wind turbine can produce zero base load. There are considerable periods when a wind machine stands still.

So, without stored energy, it can not provide even enough light to read by, or any refrigeration, can't keep the TV on.

Now a wind turbine can produce more total power over a year than a house will use.  It can produce enough power to charge batteries or to sell to a grid.

We can buy 10 kw or 20 kw Chinese made wind turbines that will give us power to sell, but so much of the time a 20 kw machine will deliver less than 1 kw. Many hours of absolutely no power.

  5. depends on what the power consumption is for the home,washers,dryers,fridge,stove,furnace... you are running minimal appliances then yes it can, remember you are storing excess power in batteries for low wind times and able to use direct during high wind times.Aways best to contact a manufacture/installer for power limits of any equipment that you are looking at solar or wind good to use both  if you are going to go to the trouble of installation. You could also sell back excess power that you are generating to your utilities.

  6. The energy that it produces should be 220 volt at 60 cycle. Your regulator is near impossible as the 60 cycle depends on how fast the windmill turns.

  7. Supplement.  Because of what you said.  The wind isn't constant.  You can't increase power from a wind turbine to meet peak demand.
