Can an egg break a windshield?

just wondering, because there is a street where cars always get egged while driving by at around 40mph and i was wondering if there is any way if an egg is thrown can it crack the windshield?

yes it can.... you know egg cant break in standing positon.... it only breaks from side...... if u hold a egg in between ur hands and try to break it from top to bottom u cant ... it will break from side only.... so its possible if it colid in vertical positon it can break the shield

Yes it can. I had a salteen cracker break mine, and an egg is a lot harder than the cracker.

Well if water drops enough times in the same spot of your skull, your skull would eventually break..

So it's probably possible if enough eggs are thrown at a high enough speed, it's a possibility.

If a car is travelling at 40 MPH and your hurl an egg to about 40 or 50 MPH, depending on the trajectory of the egg, it can hit the windshield at 80-90MPH.....Yes, it has enough force to break the windshield AND the resulting glass fragments may blind the driver and cause a wreck and possibly kill someone--either as a result of the crash or a pedestrian being hit.

Remote, but possible.  Remember, the faster the relative speed, the greater the energy potential.  Just because the speed limit is 40 doesn't mean that some cars don't go faster.  An egg that might not crack a windshield at 40 mph might do it at 60 or 70.

Also more likely if the egg was frozen.

The only way possible that this could happen is if the egg was hurled like a football and the point of the egg hit the windshield dead on...

I've actually had windows shatter for no reason what so ever .On 2 different cars. Once was in the summer& the other in the winter. So I guess what I'm trying to say is,if a window can shatter on it's own,then it probaly could with a little help from an egg at 40mph.
