Question:

Can an electric fire front be used with a back boiler?

Hi, I have just moved house to a 3 bedroom semi-detached 1950s build. The boiler is a back boiler which is something completely new to me. Although the boiler appears to be in full working order the fire front is not so good. Not only is it falling off the wall but it is not great to look at.

As there are little options for replacing this and I don't have the money to out lay for the cost of a new heating system and boiler I was wondering if it is possible to get the gas cut off from the boiler and to put an electrical fire in its place? If anyone can help or give me some advice with regards to changing a fire front on a back boiler please let me know.

Thanks

  1. It would be very ill advised to try to install an electric heating element into a modified gas appliance.  You would just be looking for trouble, and completely voiding any insurance policies you might have.
