My co. was bought and they are moving to another state. They say we all have jobs but, I will be driving more that 100 miles just to get there! Can I draw unemployment benefits? I have worked here for 5years.

  1. Yes...a substantial change in the location of the position is nearly always grounds to receive unemployment compensation

  2. Don't really know.  They don't really care.  They figure you can drive, or move.  Not their problem.  Go to your local unemployment office and ask.

  3. Go to your unemployment office and check . . . make an appointment . . . it reduces the wait time.

  4. I think you could but only if you don't work for them any more.

  5. employers don't give or deny unemployment compensation.  That is determined by a government agency.  A change in location is probably good cause for being unemployed.  Although, if you want the job, you might consider moving.
