Can an employer fire you if they haven't payed you?

I haven't been payed and know i am going to get fired. is it legal for someone to fire me if they haven't payed me? and do they have to pay me on the spot if they fire me? please help and give me resources! thanks for the help.

  1. It all depends on what state you live in because labor laws vary. Your boss does have to pay you but not on the spot. No matter what you might be able to qualify for unemployment. In my state you qualify for unemployment if you have worked for a company for one week or more. Check with your State's Department of Labor; they will be able to clear up any questions and begin your application for unemployment. Go on line or stop by their office; they are usually really nice and as helpful as possible


  2. there is no requirement for them to pay you on the spot but they do have to pay you during the regular pay schedule

    if they s***w you  then contact the labor board of your state and also if there is a chance of getting a photocopy of your timecard it will help
