Question:

Can an engagement ring cause your finger and hand muscles to be sore?

I got engaged yesterday! I have the most beautiful ring.. its a platinum band with half shank diamonds on the band and a center stone. The total carat weight is almost 2. My hand and finger muscles are sore. Can this be because I've never worn a ring on this finger? We are also up in the mountains and my hands are extremely dry due to the climate.

  1. Yes, your finger and hand can be sore, but sadly not because of the weight of your stone.  As you go through your day, you are unconsciously moving your fingers and hand differently because you are aware something unusual is there.  After awhile, your muscles ache because they are being used awkwardly.  It's the same reason that someone's hip begins to hurt when they have hurt their foot.  They are simply walking funny, and it affects the rest of their body.

  2. d**n ... way to get a rock!!! No wonder your finger and hand are so sore!

  3. lol I doubt if the bling on your finger is so heavy it's causing problems.....

if you're fiddling with your ring & hand then yup, it's the fiddling around that's done it.....altho I can't blame ya...bet it's darned pretty...lol you'll get used to the bling ring, I guarentee.....congrats.

  4. I don't know but i have that problem i think maybe it's the metal.. you know I mean they say that magnets are good for your bones so maybe the metal is causing a bit of pain.. I always thought it was because i am anemic

  5. Well its doubtful its because of the ring. You might be doing something different with that hand, such as stretching it out to show of your rock, that could be stressing the muscle

  6. not from just wearing the ring, but if you find yourself moving your fingers around and playing with it, then that could cause muscle soreness.
