Can an illegal immigrant be a foster parent in maryland?

i am a citizen and my husband is an illegal immigrant and i am wondering if we can become foster parents in maryland. i know we both have to have background checks, which we will pass, but i am wondering if he needs a ssn to be a foster parent. thanks

Regardless of opinion... the fact remains that he would not be allowed to become a foster parent due to the fact that as an undocumented immigrant, he does not have a social security number. Your SS # is required to complete background checks as well as receive the monthly check sent to each foster child.

Unfortunately, you would not qualify to be a foster parent either as they would do a check (similar to the adoption home study) on everyone in the household. Since he is your husband and lives in the household, the household would not qualify as a whole.

foster parents have to have criminal background checks , credit checks, etc and for that you have to have a ssn.. they are very strict with foster parents.. IN my state, you can't even foster if you have bad credit or are a single parent.. (they would rather keep the kid in a bad home or children's home, etc). Sorry

He cannot and should not be a foster parent. They do state and federal checks through fingerprints of everyone in household over 16. No way a criminal invader should help raise an already troubled child. That is not the right type of morals to show children.

He will not pass a background check because he is a criminal illegal alien.  They would not let someone have children to care for since he has and continues to break the law.

He won't pass any type of background check without a SSN. You will be paid for being a foster parent so how would they pay someone who isn't supposed to be here or working here. I would hope the answer to your question would be no,but nothing would surprise me anymore.

if you both have to have background checks he is not going to pass because he is not ment to be in your country if he is an illegal immagrant.. i doubt and would hope that a child would not be placed in the care of an illegal imagrant
