  1. It's certainly good to practice pool on your own.  You can work on angles, techniques, and improve your skills at lining up and taking shots.  

    It'd be tough if you're looking to make any money that way, though. On the other hand, you'd win every game!

Of course, we can practice on our own, but I think you are referring to actually playing a game.  It requires a lot of discipline to play both sides of a pool game.  The reason it can be difficult is in defensive play.  It can seem awkward to try to not leave yourself a good shot.  Since you are playing both sides, you might have the tendency to always play aggressive, with the idea that no matter what happens, "you" will be the one shooting next.  I would recommend games like straight pool that could have you at the table for a longer period of time for each turn.  Any game can work well for solo play if you bear in mind that your opponent (you) is no different than another person.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

  3. Scott.is correct-it is great to practice several hours a day to become a good player,its helps you get confedence on some hard shots...but take a break during each game to relax too..ok
