I know someone who wants a whole package together. On our brokers website, it says he does all kinds of stuff, but it doesnt list commercial insurance. If he works with many different carriers, wouldnt the carrier be able to offer it through the broker to our business.

  1. It sounds like your guy is a Life and health agent, commercial insurance requires a separate property and causality license.

Not all brokers are experts in every field most specialize in one or two areas. Your guy probably has a contact he will refer you to.

  2. The health care carriers that your broker represents do not offer commercial property and casualty insurance. Just as the insurance carriers that offer property and casualty insurance do not offer health insurance. This is so because the business model and company operations are completely different.

That being said there are larger brokers that have segmented their agency operations into divisions that offer health insurance, life insurance, group coverages, financial planning on one side of the agency and also offer personal and commercial property and casualty. The two segments operate as one agency but the companies represented as well as the agency personnel are different for each side.
