Can an international student get scholarship?

im an international student studying in the us. i have no financial issues and my bills are paid for the next semester. however unexpectedly i recieved a letter a few days ago saying that i have been named a peter f. vallone-new york city council scholar. i have not applied for fafsa, is it possible to claim that money?

  1. There is no reason why an international student cannot get financial aid in the form of a scholarship.  Scholarships are offered by private organizations or the school to be disbursed to any student that meets the requirements and is approved.

    The FAFSA has nothing to do with private scholarships.
