Can an old cat learm new tricks?

Question

I was thinking of getting a young cat from the pound, and I was going to get a litter box trained 10 month oldish kitty...

can I still teach him how to do his "business" outside?

of course you can. cats arn't like dogs and would prefer to go outside rather than inside. for the first week after you get him i would advise letting him use the litter tray while he adjusts to a new environment but then just remove it (making sure ur cat has access outside) and see what happens. you may have to place him in the dirt for the first few times but the cat will most likely naturally go outside in search of somewhere to do his "business"-hehe

yes you can teach an old cat new tricks!

as soon as it has eaten or drunk something, take it outside or to litter tray, gentle take a front paw and scratch the surface.

cats are very clever and will soon know what you want it to do!

Yes but unless you want to find pee / poo some nice place like clothes on the floor I would provide a sand box inside the house at least until it get older.

Cat's should not be FULL TIME outdoors.  They need the protection of your home.

Good luck!  As you very well know, cats pretty much do what they want.  If your cat has been taught to use the litter box, I doubt he will change.  Unlessssss- you had a sandbox or something outside that was like litter.  You'd still have to scoop it though.

It depends on the cat, most cats are litter trained by that age, but if you work on it together and if you cat is pretty good, it is possible.

no matter how old yr cat is u can train them to go toilet outside one way i taught mine was take a little bit of the litter and put it outside where u want them to do their business then when they are going in the spot remove the litter cz they would have left there scent there hope this helps u out and good luck
