Your refering to a ring made of one solid pc of Onyx , right......hopefully your goin larger size, then you can get it "honed", but smaller is goin 2 b problem reccomend scotch tape or a larger finger , nose ring , big toe ,........... here's to u gettin creative ,cheers

As a rule it can be resized safely.  First of all, it depends on whether it is sterling silver, solid gold or some other metal or plated.  If it is plated, it can't be sized.  If the stone is mounted certain ways, it can be dangerous to size it.  You should take it to your neighborhood jeweler and let him be the judge.  This is a question that can only be answered when you can see the merchandise.
