  1. yes, of course. Usually if there is extra room in first they will be bumped to first so that the flight attendant can keep a closer eye on them.

  2. If the child has a paid ticket to fly in first, of course they can sit up there. The same procedures will be in place as far as the escort (a ground employee) coming to the door of the aircraft to help the young person. Although the UM would not be able to sample all of the drinks available in that cabin,  there is no age restriction for sitting in first.

Unaccompanied minors are not routinely upgraded. In my 13 years of a Flight Attendant, we did actually do that once. There was only one person in first and we had a ton of UM's on a short, domestic flight. We put them in their own row in first, a big treat for them! They are usually seated together but it is not a problem to have a UM sitting in another class of service.

  3. yes if theres room there not gona throw some one who paid for first class to coach

  4. yeah... they usually try to put them as close to the flight attendants so that they can keep an eye on them... I did this about 9-10 years ago when i flew and they haven't changed it

  5. Yes, I did that this year after school was over.
