  1. depends on what animal dear, bears can and do eat both, but i have found that if they are hungry enough, they will eat just about anything !  a deer will only eat veggies and fruit !  are you a vegetarian dear ?  me, i love steak but what else would you expect from the butcher !!    wink...tb

  2. depends on the animal

  3. rabbits dnt need meat :) or turtles.

  4. The ones that are naturally herbivores can. Examples: cow, horse, goat, sheep, iguana, so on.  Ones that are not naturally herbivores (Dog, cat, snakes, some lizards) etc... it's a very, very bad idea to try to force vegetarianism on them.

  5. it's called herbivore.

  6. certain animals (herbivores) r vegetarians, which means that, yes, they can live without meat. but again, like everyone else said, it depends on the animal...

  7. Yes, elephants, sloths and giraffes are!

  8. i just want to point out that rabbit are not true herbivores! sure they eat grass, ETC, but they also can eat their young! they only do it if they don't have enough protein in their diet at the time of kindling.

so in all honesty, they do eat meat.......their own young.

  9. yes . paul mccartney has a dog that he feeds a vegertarian diet although i do not agree with it as it's not a natural way for the dog to be fed

  10. cats and dogs cannot live without meat

  11. It depends on the animal. Actually, most animals are omnivores. But look at rabbits. Tada. Vegetarian.

  12. Basically it depends on the animal. You can feed a large number of animals on a vegitarian diet even if it isn't there nature.

    Great site.

  13. I think most animals need to eat meat in order to get certain vitamins.  Unless an animal is born an herbavore I don't think it is healthy.

  14. Depends on the animal.

I know for a fact dogs can, but it's hard to find a balanced and totally vegetarian diet (Wafcol dog food is the only food I know that does a vegetarian diet for dogs), and even then you should only feed them a vegetarian diet due to allergies, NOT because you're a vegetarian or a bleeding heart.

And cats CAN'T be vegetarians, ever. They'll die without the nourishment in meat.

Even gerbils, mice, ferrets etc. suffer without some sort of meat within their food.

So basically, unless they're total herbivorous, like rabbits, giraffes etc., they can't be vegetarian without suffering of some sort, sometimes even dying in the case of cats.
