  1. you can add drivers to your auto insurance.. check with insurance company for details

  2. Im sure you can, call your agent.

  3. She's 24, has her own car and lives in another state?  No way - don't do it.  She needs to obtain her own insurance.

  4. If she's out of state and lives on her own, no it cannot be done. Your only option for adding her is if she normally lives in your household and she is away temporarily, like attending college.

Otherwise, you're looking to add someone to your policy in order to get cheaper insurance rates; this fits the definition of insurance fraud. In the event of an accident, you could be looking at denial of coverage.

  5. It is normal to add drivers to your policy that drive YOUR car - but if your niece lives in another State and has her OWN car - she needs to be insured in the State where she resides.

Each State has their own set of rules to play by so you want to be sure that she is in compliance.

Sounds to me like she just wants you to PAY for the insurance! So, if you want to do THAT - have her get her a policy and send you the bill.  It would amount to the same thing.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

  6. Sorry, you can't.

It's a thing called "insurable interest". Basically, you can't insure something that you have no vested interest in.

If you don't own the car and she doesn't even live with you, you have no insurable interest.

Otherwise, I would insure my neighbor's kids and collect a nice check everytime they run into something.
