Can anti-depressants change you?

Like make u fall out of love or change your dreams..

i hear they change your s*x drive...

My family and doctor wants me to take them but Im afraid I will not be myself ... or it will change me. I like being sad sometimes..

Medication changed me. I take Wellbutrin and despite the negative comments, I have had positive ones.

I was virtually a zombie before medication- I floated through my days. I was so depressed that I hardly even wanted to get out of bed.

Medication gives me energy, helps me cope with every day tasks like school and work.

It affects everyone differently...and it's a personal decision. Take it because YOU want to change, not because your family wants you to.

If you get the right kind of medication, you should be fine. i have had manic depression and severe anxiety for five years and have been on nearly everything for that. Strange dreams maybe. some anit - depressants do change your s*x drive. WELLBUTRIN. do not get on that. i suggest ativan or lamictal, there's effexor, topamax. all work very well and you will be just fine.

I know that anti-depressants only help to make things a bit better. I had fallen out of love before I took my meds and now, I love him even more. Some meds can change your s*x drive, but there are some you can talk about to your dr. that have less side effects of low s*x drive. Trust me, my s*x  drive has increased because I was soooo depressed that I never wanted out of bed and I cried all the time, but now I actually want to be around people and I feel more like having s*x now, because I am a little happier. It depends on how depressed you actually get in the first place. I'm personally of the opinion that antidepressants are over prescribed. If it is a strong suggestion, I would at least ask them to make sure it's a low dose to start with. Generally, the higher the dose, the more likely you might behave erratically. That's the big thing, in fact. If you are on too high a dose, or the wrong prescription for you, you may behave erratically, do things you'll regret, and might even have wild mood swings. Medication can be a good thing, but it needs to be prescribed cautiously. It won't change your personality (what you like and don't like), but it will change your behavior.

I second the no wellbutrin comment. Very bad stuff. Zoloft I've heard mixed reviews on. Prozac is pretty big no no in my book. Cymbalta has worked best for me as well as a friend of mine. Lexapro has had good results for another friend.
