I keep getting ants in my bathroom and where they are coming in I keep finding little mounds of what I can only presume is plaster etc from where they come in. Is this correct?

  1. They can go through mortar so I guess they can go through plaster too!

  2. I am battling the same problem. Dont freak-termites have other tell tale signs. You see ants, they are probably Carpenter Ants. I have them all over my property and inside one of my storm windows. I drilled holes over the window and put in poison. Then put tape over the holes to keep them out!

My exterminator gave me the idea... :)

  3. How big are they? If you have any large ones then they maybe carpenter ants which is not a good thing. Carpenter ants are commonly found in damp moist areas in the walls where something may be leaking such as  tub, pipes or toilet. You may want to have it checked out. Hopefully its not. If they are small ants, remember where ants live. they can do the same to plaster. Ant can carry two or three times their own body weight. Hope this helps!!!

  4. I doubt they are termites. Termites rarely show themselves except in the swarm season which is in early spring. Termite workers are white or light tan.  Termite swarmers are black or brown. Carpenter ants only come out at night. On occasion, carpenter ant colonies will send out a few scouts during the day,, but no real activity is observed during daylight hours. You probably have Pharaoh ants. Do they walk in a single line? ( You thought I was going to ask do they walk like an Egyptian, right? )  Or are they unorganized in their movement? In any event don't spray them!!!  Once a colony knows it has been poisoned it will split. Which means it will produce extra queens and then form multiple colonies through out your home. Take off wall plates and spread ant bait paste on back of wall plates . Allow three to four weeks to gain control. It will work. Be patient.

  5. Excuse I  do not speak English fluently because I am Brazilian, here in Brazil we used one formulate home-made to kill ants.

Wet old bread in vinegar  pricks in small pieces and it puts through where they are passing.

    what does that make?

The bread with vinegar ferments and it dilates and it becomes moldy

and the mold kills the ants.

  6. What you are seeing is not from ants. That is the residue from TERMITES!!!!! Call an exterminator before they eat all the wood in your house.
