  1. Generally a regular store will carry dairy free milk (Soy milk, Rice Milk). You could also check Wal-Mart as they carry them frequently as well. I'm not sure where you are from but here in the north east USA it's pretty easy to find :)

Wal-Mart also has a variety of soy cheeses, soy hot dogs and other items that don't contain milk.

  2. Both of my kids are on dairy and soy free diet. We use rice milk that I find at either Whole Foods or Wegmans.  Both also have plenty of other dairy free products.

On a side note, if your son is just lactose intolerant he can still have hard cheeses and yogurt because they don't have lactose in them.

  3. tesco you can find them thier but note you will dont find them in the freezers

  4. If you are in the UK any supermarket, its quite common nowadays.

  5. Holland and Barrett do diary free stuff, look for "Alpro" range in most high street stores, sainsburys.

Alpro do everything yogurts, cream, ready made custard.

Tofutti available at Holland and Barrett do dairy free cheese in both Cheddar and mozzarella style that does not taste to bad.

Note ignore jrmiss86 about hard cheese and yogurts as I have lived with a child diagnosed with Lactose Intolerance for 8 years and a top dietician at Birmingham Childrens Hospital said nothing about that in fact she said NO YOGURTS OR CHEESE unless it was marked Dairy Free and gave me a list of companies who did Dairy Free products.

If she would like to have my son for a weekend I would gladly fill him with yogurts before she took him then she could learn the hard way how wrong her comment is. After clearing up the mess fron both ends for about 24 hours and then there will be the smell to contend with.

Innocent smoothies- not the thick shakes are fine as they contain no lactose I have been in touch with them personally.

There is a new company just came out called Lactofree and this stuff seems OK with my 10 year old (who is heavily lactose intolerant)

Swedish glace do ice cream style pudding which comes in a variety of flavours (sainsburys again)

Here's one even I did not know about.

Hope all those links help you and believe me once you get used to what your son can and cannot have thing do get easier, it might not seem so at the moment with thinking like what can he have but believe me when my son was diagnosed 8 years ago things where not as easily available as they are today.

Please ignore jrmiss86 I have lived with a child diagnosed with Lactose Intolerance for the last 8 years and I personally know that if he has 1 yogurt not only will he mess from both ends rather rapidly there is a god awful smell to contend with as well.

He regually sees a dietican and she has never said that it is ok for him to eat these things and has only ever given me lists of products that are dairy free and never once has Ski or any of them companies/brands appeared on them.

But if jrmiss would like to test this theroy I will gladly feed my son yogurts and hard cheese and she can have him for 24 hours straight after because I don't want the fall out from such an experiment
