What is it like to be living in a place where it is 30 degree in winter. I am jealous when I see the weather report but then I look at Melbourne and Tasmania and I don't feel so bad. I live in Sydney!

  1. Why would you be jealous? That is horrible! Can you imagine living in a place where you have to run the A/C 24/7/365, and never experience the delightful chill of a crisp morning, or the warm cosiness of a sweater? Why would you EVER aspire to live in a place that gets broiled by the sun for all of eternity?

  2. i never lived in australia but i've seen days that warm in the middle of winter when i lived in florida

and it is something to be jealous of. the backfire though is that you get cold much easier, for example i get cold when it's 22 outside. so if there's an abnormally cold winter where the highs are running in the teens or single digits above freezing, it feels pretty much like a blizzard. after you're acclimated it's not too much better

  3. As an Australian I can say that we are not in the sun all the time.  It gets cold here in winter and yes we get snow too!  It does not get 30 degrees in winter unless you live in the Northern Territory (desert) and that is not where the majority of people live.  In Sydney for example it is 18 today and we are not yet in winter.  It is snowing in some parts and is getting to -1 in some parts at night.  Winter will start in about a week - so yes it will get a lot colder yet!
