Have almost 100 hours and was just wondering if someone could reccomend a good IFR book. I have no instrument flying behind me yet and want a book that will go in detail about everything that has to do IFR. Thank You.

  1. The FAA Intrument Flying Handbook it one of the required reading books for the IFR rating, but the ASA and Jeppeson books go into more detail and better explainations.

I would pickup the FAA and the ASA or Jeppeson (both are almost identical in context).

  2. The standard IFR jeppesen book is about the best. I think their books are like $40, and their part 61 kit is $170, and their part 141 is 300.

  3. Here’s a great place to start and it’s free.  It’s the FAA Instrument Flying Handbook – straight from their site.

    http://www.faa.gov/library/manuals/aviat...

  4. -Instrument Flying Handbook - FAA

    -Instrument Procedures Handbook - FAA

-The Art of Instrument Flying - J. R. Williams

-Any of the Jeppesen or ASA books.
