Question:

Can any boxing fan answer this for me????????

Why do certain boxing fans, defend and pay

respect and honor to boxers by saying "they

can't be called coward this, or bum that,

because it takes courage to step into the

ring, and they put their life on the line etc"?

There are two salient reasons why

I think that is HOGWASH!

A) What boxer truly thinks they

will get seriously injured, or even

die in the ring? I would say few to none.

It takes no courage to step into

the ring, when you have no intention

of being hurt!

B) Why are we paying them respect

for stepping into the ring? They aren't

doing us any favors. In fact, their

true motive for stepping into the

ring is pure greed. Theres no honor in

that. As you see with Mayweather

and De La Hoya, a lot of them see it as

nothing but a business transaction.

With that said, do you still feel

boxers should be respected for

"having the courage to step into the

ring". or do you agree that that

saying is a fluffy joke!

  1. Yes, I can answer it. But, you can answer it yourself. Go to a gym tough guy and lace a pair up, get in the ring and fight a pro fighter. I guarantee it will be the bravest thing you have ever done. If you do not wind up in the hospital you will never ask a dumb question like this again.

  2. Well i do have a great deal of respect for them, they are some of the world's greatest athletes, and they train very very hard to get to the point where they can confidently step in the ring, and boxers have died in the past. and i seriously doubt you have the kinda guts it takes to step into the ring

  3. I wil take a wild guess and say you have never fought. Go to a boxing lesson and have some-one knock some sense into you.

  4. I feel they should get respect from me, because I don't have the guts to do it.  And I love to watch.  That's enough reason for me to show respect.  Not to mention the training they have to go through.  I'd rather sit on my couch with a beer than run 10 miles a day and spar 15 rounds...

  5. A. - Step into the ring with Mike tyson

    B. Try to live

  6. Hey r****d, your village rang and they want their idiot back!!!

I'm guessing you enjoy beach evening walks with your boyfriend and small farm animals.

I box and if you ever had the balls to say that within swingin distance of me I would knock you the **** out!!!

Go back to the ballet sissy boy

  7. They do deserve respect, because each time, they step in the ring, they are putting their life on the line- look at Leavander Johnson, Du Coo KIm.  It's called bleeding on the brain, and boxers sometimes get it from being hit in the head repeatedly, some die from it, while others don't (Joe Mesi).  Mayweather-De La Hoya is only one fight, look at the recent Pavlik-Taylor 2 fight (no title, just a good fight), or the upcoming Vazquez-Marquez 3 fight, the unification between Klitchsko and Ibragimov and many others.  And anyway, are you to tell me that you would turn down more than 10 million dollars to fight someone that you feel you could beat easily?  No, nobody would turn down that kind of money, but that still doesn't mean that boxers don't have courage, and recently the best have been fighting the best and that, in my opinion is what makes boxing the best sport in the world.

  8. I feel they deserve respect.  I am not a huge boxing fan (I enjoy the UFC a lot more) but I do watch some fights.  These athletes punish their bodies with training, etc.  So I feel you have to give respect to them.  The thing is when someone won't fight someone cause the money isn't right or things along that nature I tend to lose respect for that person.

  9. Coward , I dont think any boxer can be called a coward for stepping into the ring , it takes courage to put yourself in sight of punches. But I dont think it should be mentioned because it is a given . And as to go as far as to say they put there lives on the line , well you can look at it one of two ways , Yes there is a chance of death when you box , but there is a chance of death in almost any sport ,thats the chance they take for the money they make. I would think football would be more dangerous and life threating than boxing but thats just my opinion .

  10. Cole D IS OK!!!!!!!!

  11. do you  know  "boom boom" mancini... do you know why he is a ledgend? do you know his opponent, duc?  do some searching and see wha tyou come up with.. there would be nothing to be greedy about if there were no fans dipstick...i there is no risk why are you not in he ring making 5 million  a fight, piece of cake right?
