Can any canon lense be used on a canon rebel slr (flim)?

I have the generic lese that came with the camera and i wana upgrade to somthing that has better zoom.

  1. Canon has two lines of autofocus lenses, Canon EF lenses and Canon EF-S lenses.

    The Canon EF lenses are designed to work on both film and digital cameras.

    The Canon EF-S lenses are designed to work only on digital SLRs, but will mount on a film camera.  If you use an EF-S lens on a film camera, you'll get dark corners and edges, called "vignetting."

    If you want to upgrade your film camera's zoom, just make sure you get an EF lens and not an EF-S lens.
