  1. No horse is unbeatable.

I will be backing George Washington, partly for sentimental reasons - I like the horse and was a fan of his brother too - and partly because I believe he has a good chance.

He acted on the dirt last year and finished a creditable 6th in the 06 running after suffering interference.  He is a bigger and stronger horse this year and this race has been the long-term target for some months.

  2. This has to be one of the closest match-ups going! I like Street Sense with Tiago and Curlin in the mix.

  3. Hopefully Curlin.  :O)

  4. Hard Spun has an excellent chance to wire the field at 8-1 ML. Street Sense, Curlin, Lawyer Ron will all be 5/2 to 7/2 or so, and it will be difficult to separate them. Hard Spun should get a relatively easy lead, the others will have to come from off the pace, which is not particularly easy at Monmouth.

  5. Lawyer Ron is definetly my pick along with Hard Spun and Street Sense

Lawyer Ron may not like his spot in the gate since it is on the rail but he still might take the smaller turns with ease

Hard Spun has a good spot in the gate and he might like the smaller turns at Monmouth better than the other turns he has faced (maybe Mario Pino won't blow it this time!)

Street Sense has been at Monmouth for a few days and tends to like it there and has a good spot in the gate. He may be a huge factor.

Really, I won't make my final decision until I see the horses in the post parade (that is for all the races).

  6. Of course.  Curlin beat him in the Jockey Club Gold Cup.  Lawyer Ron is great but this group of 3 year olds is amazing.

My pick is Street Sense...  he had a good prep in the KY Cup Classic - I know he didn't win, but I don't think winning was the point...  he covered the ground well...  it was a good work and it wasn't too physically demanding.  He arrived at Monmouth early to work over the track and had a great workout yesterday covering 5 furlongs in just over 1 minute.  Every goal this horse is set to, he accomplishes wonderfully... first the BC juvie, then the KY Derby, followed by the Travers, and now the BC Classic.

I'll be looking for an upset though from Any Given Saturday.  Aside from the Derby, this horse has done everything right...  and he's the only Classic contender who has a win at Monmouth this year.
