I have them under tree, but purchased a dozen of different varieties and wanted to place them in other not so shady areas of garden. Any experience/suggestions? Thanks

  1. The Green Hostas can tolerate the most sune.  Blue hosta will generally be more green if they are in the sun.  Varigated hosta will burn if in the afternoon sun.  Brown and Crinkly leaves are either burnt or not enough water.  The more sun a hosta receives the more water it will take to keep it healthy.

  2. Brown crinkly leaves are definitely a sign of too much sun. ome varieties of hosta can take a little sun as long as they get afternoon shade. Usually the larger ones, with the thickest leaves, fare the best. Patriot, blue angel, and sum and substsance can tolerate light sun, although they prefer shade.
