  1. It's not exactly a clown fish, but search clown loach. They are adorable, live in fresh water, and look pretty similar to clown fish. (same colours anyway). :D

  2. They are all marine fish. you need special set ups for them.

oh and they are harder to care for.

  3. There are several species of freshwater Puffers, the smallest of which is the Dwarf Puffer (which is actually two species).  However, the Amazon Puffer (Colomesus asellus) and Hairy Puffer (Tetraodon baileyi) are both freshwater, but get a bit larger (4-5" each).  There are no true freshwater Clownfish, but there are entirely unrelated species that have a similar pattern.  Clown Loaches (Chromobotia macracanthus), Kuhli Loaches (Pangio species), and Clown Killifish (Aplocheilus annulatus) have the orange and balck striping.  Clown Loaches get VERY large (about a foot long), but Clown Killis and Kuhli Loaches will stay only a few inches in length.

  4. clown fish are saltwater

  5. No clownfish are saltwater only.  But there are pufferfish that live in fresh and brackish waters.

Go to www.aquariumfish.net  and search for pufferfish, they will tell you what kinds live in what kind of water, how large of a tank you need, and what kind of fish you can keep with them.

  6. dwarf puffer fish and green spotted puffer. both puffers are brackish but dont really need it. and clownfishes are all saltwater fishes.

  7. The pea puffer/ dwarf puffer is a small (I mean small) puffer fish that lives in freshwater, but it needs bloodworms to eat. They are fairly inexpensive at your local fish store, and they have personality, but they need a bit of space to thrive. There are no freshwater clownfish.

  8. Puffer fishes are mainly brackish to saltwater fish, however, there is a few that can live in freshwater. Anyways, as for clown fishes, they cannot unfortunately. However, if you are asking if it's possible, yes, indeed it is possible. Right now, I am conducting a research on what minerals that saltwater provides that freshwater doesn't, and if you add those minerals to freshwater, will saltwater fishes be able to live in freshwater? The answer is I say a 50/50. It's no guarantees, but If I try to find a way, I'll definitely let you know.

Before, I used to post answers that no, clown fishes cannot live in freshwater, but after I thought about it, it is possible. Due to the fact that saltwater contains minerals in the water to help saltwater fish live and thrive with nutrients. However, the part that is hard, is that some of the micro organisms that lives in the saltwater that also helps fishes to live a healthy life, cannot survive in freshwater. But there are other ways that scientists can make it possible.

So is it possible? The answer is yes, it is possible, but the chances of survival at the normal life span is very slim if you decide to house clown fish in freshwater.

Anyways, I hope this can help, thanks for asking..................
