Can any liberals defend the Fairness Doctrine?

  2. I'm not in favor of it.  

    However, I always find it ironic that conservatives who are against the fairness doctrine scream about the proliferation of liberal media.

  3. The so called Fairness Doctrine absolutely flies in the face of free speech - you needn't direct your question at just liberals because I doubt ANTONE can justify such a policy with any real validity.

  4. I'm a liberal, but I don't support the fairness doctrine, I don't see a real need for it.

  5. The intent of the fairness doctrine was to assure that the public airwaves were not used by corperations who own TV stations for political purposes. It worked nicely to that end for decades.  Sadly most of the people have surrendered to the powers that be and decided that the people who own the transmitters should be allowed to spew what ever oneisded BS they need to in order to maximize profits.
