We're seeing a doctor but my boyfriend's in a lot of pain at the moment.

Can any mix of essential oils and/or special massages help his back? Even if it's only a temporary effect?

Cheers :)

  1. The best solution is to go and see a chiropractor. They will be able to diagnose the problem and give treatment that really works. It's not free, but how much is a pain-free life worth to him?

  2. My boyfriend had a bad back.  We finally went to the chiropractor and had it x-rayed. We discovered that 7 out of 10 people have one leg shorter than the other.  It's just that in most cases, it isn't significant enough to cause problems.  My bf's is about 1/8 an inch, but that was enough to hurt him.  The bill for going was abou 80 bucks.  All he has to do now is wear an insert in his shorter leg's shoe.  He feels great and wishes he had figured this out years ago now.

    Hope it helps!

  3. Something like tiger balm may temporarily relieve pain! It really all depends on what the problem really is!!

  4. with you helping him to massage it in, why not, at least you can have fun at the same time, massage can do funny things to a bloke

  5. Yes a massage could help his back if the source of the pain is muscular. You can mix a few drops of clary sage essential oil or eucalyptus essential oil in with a natural massage oil, like grapeseed oil or sunflower oil. These essential oils are good for soothing muscle soreness. Here's some more info about essential oils.

Tension in other muscles also add to back pain. If your boyfriend is having low back pain be sure to massage quads (the front of his thighs too). When these muscles are too tight they put stress on the low back.

If he is having trouble with his upper back be sure to massage his shoulders and his chest too. You can find out about different massage strokes to use here.

    Good Luck!

  6. Depends o what is causing the pain. If the back has an inflammation, you'll only make it worse with massage. Painkillers would be the best bet and then wait for what the doctor says.

  7. take your boyfreind to bikram yoga or similar sort:

  8. The only way that will help is by relaxing him when you are putting them on. What he needs is advil (or Motrin) and rest. If he's in alot of pain he may need to go to the Dr and get checked out, could be alot of things. He may need medication such as anti-inflammatory pills or muscle relaxers. He may need to go to a chiropracter too. You didn't say why his back hurts, was he injured? But no, oils and massages will not help much especially if he's in alot of pain.
